This is so simple, I have no idea why I never thought of it.

Put your camera on a monopod with, say, a 24mm. Run a cable release up the pole to the camera. Ta-da. That simple.

When would you use this? Say after a championship game when 300 media are swamped around the winning team. Simply hold it up and you're a full 6 feet above everyone elses' heads. It's also good to use at basketball games when there is a huddle on the bench. As I sit here and think about it, I guess you could also stick it through their legs and shoot up at their faces...
